MANICALAND province 2025 Chibuku Road To Fame winners, Mnenga Band, feel they are ready to finally release their first studio album.
The group, which hails from Rusape and was formed three years ago, has faced serious challenges in trying to drop an album.
Led by Musa Marova, the group also features Sharon Zikuzo (vocals), Felistas Jacopo (vocals), Prudence Mutsikira (traditional instruments and percussion), Ralph Machakaire (bassist), Simbarashe Ndirarame (drummer) and Stallone Zikuzo (keyboard).
The Afro fusion album is set to have seven tracks – Purezha, Mari, Mbabvu, Promises, Kuseri kweruoko and Ukadonha Simuka.
Marova said if they get the funds they need, they hope to launch the album during the festive season.
“It is our wish that we head into the studio and record an album from a recognised and registered studio.
“I have an album and if funds pour into my life I’m going to record it.
“I’m excited about the album because it has my best effort and the best efforts of the other members. We hope to launch it in December,” said Marova.
He added:
“The love of music is just inside us. I grew up listening to Oliver Mtukudzi, Progress Chipfumo, Victor Kunonga and these people inspired me.
“The experiences we encountered growing up, like poverty, hunger and seeing yourself stagnant gave us the zeal to pursue music.
“Participating at the Road To Fame competition was an amazing opportunity as many people got to hear about our work.”
