Chicken Inn face tricky MWOS

COMING off a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over TelOne, Chicken Inn will look to carry that momentum into another tricky away fixture when they face Premiership newboys MWOS at Norton’s Ngoni Stadium on Saturday.

The Gamecocks have been inconsistent this season and know they’ll have to dig deep against Lloyd Mutasa’s unpredictable side, who earned a one-all draw with Manica Diamonds last weekend.

“It’s always tough to play away back to back. We will have to play and we will play against MWOS in another tricky fixture for us,” said Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas. “We will be facing a strong side at their base. We have a big game in our hands and I hope the players will continue to show their team spirit and confidence.”

Chicken Inn’s victory over TelOne, their first-ever win at Ascot Stadium, was dedicated to the late Tendai “Fire” Ndoro, a former Warriors and Gamecocks forward who was laid to rest the following day. That result lifted Antipas’ men to 30 points, just two behind Highlanders in ninth place.

Highlanders, buoyed by a 2-1 away triumph over Bikita Minerals, will host Yadah Stars at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday in what will be coach Pieter de Jongh’s second game since returning to the Bosso dugout.

Nigerian striker Benjamin Oluwaritimi Adeogun, who scored from the spot against Bikita, will again be expected to lead the line alongside Reason Sibanda as Bosso look to pull further clear of the relegation fight after a five-match winless run.

Elsewhere, Ngezi Platinum Stars host FC Platinum in a battle of former champions at Baobab, while Dynamos meet Scottland at Rufaro in a clash of form teams. Defending champions and log leaders Simba Bhora visit GreenFuel Arena, Triangle United face Herentals at Gibbo, and bottom-placed Kwekwe United face fellow relegation fighters Manica Diamonds at Ascot.
