Chidimma laughs off fraud allegations

Miss Universe runner-up and former Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina has broken her silence over serious fraud and identity theft allegations − and she’s not backing down.

According to The South African, Chidimma and her mother, Anabela Rungo, are being investigated by Home Affairs over claims that her Mozambican-born mother fraudulently registered her as a South African at birth using false documents.

As a result of the investigation, both Chidimma and her mother have had their South African IDs and passports revoked. Anabela was also arrested earlier this year but has since been released on bail.

Despite the controversy, Chidimma − who was born in Cape Town and whose father is Nigerian − has taken to TikTok to address the issue with confidence and humor. On her page, she posted a bold message: “God is preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”

The 23-year-old beauty queen has also been firing back at social media users who mocked her and questioned her South African identity. When one user sarcastically asked, “Which passport are you using?” Chidimma hit back with, “Maybe your moms? I can’t even keep up.” Another user warned fellow South Africans to “hide your IDs,” to which she coolly replied, “Including yours, sweetheart.”

One TikTok follower accused her of having an identity crisis − Chidimma simply responded: “Voetsek!” In another video, she addressed rumors that her father was a Nigerian druglord and her mother allegedly used a stolen identity to register her birth. “You still failed to bring the girl to us . . .  show us this imaginary girl! I’m still waiting . . .  it’s been a year,” she said.

Chidimma’s journey through pageantry has been just as bold. After dropping out of the Miss South Africa competition in August 2024, she entered and won Miss Nigeria just weeks later. In December, she proudly represented Nigeria and went on to become the Miss Universe runner-up − a major milestone in her career −OK.
