Choirs from across the country are gearing up for the 2025 edition of the iJoy Afta Joy Choral Music Competition. Although the list of participating choirs, as well as the date and venue for the finals, are yet to be announced, organisers Econet Wireless Zimbabwe say preparations are already well underway.

Registration for the 2025 edition closed last month. The competition, which started last year, has become a key event on the national gospel and choral music calendar. It brings together church, school and community choirs, offering a platform to showcase talent and unite people through the power of song.

One of the organisers said the event is designed to be more than just a music contest.
“It’s more than just a competition; it’s a movement where hope meets harmony, where communities come alive through music, and where the unifying power of collective voices takes centre stage.”

Last year’s edition delivered unforgettable performances, with Sound of Joy Chorale clinching first place in the Bulawayo provincial competition and walking away with US$2 500. Amaqaqa came second, taking home US$1 500, while Brethren in Christ Church Mpopoma secured third position and received US$1 000.
