A POPULAR Harare hair salon owner faces eviction from her premises after authorities red flagged her for using her business to run illegal activities.

Caroline Chimwayi, who has previously operated hair salons in Beverly Court and Chisipiti, also having operated from Red Rose Gianni and Black Beauty hair salons.

She has been previously forced to move from her salons after allegations emerged that she was constantly entertaining clientele from the LGBTI community, which reportedly raised the ire of authorities who claimed they were being a public nuisance because they would also use her premises to hold illegal meetings.

Her latest salon in Kamfinsa is now also in the eye of the storm after members of the public alerting authorities that the salon had since turned into a hub for the LGBTI community.

“This is not the first time we have received complaints about Chimwayi, it seems she is doing it unabatedly, ignoring all the warnings that have been given to her. We have since received a complaint from customers and neighbouring business owners which is why we have decided to act because that salon is becoming a public nuisance,” said a police source.

This publication also managed to talk to people close to Chimwayi who revealed that she had been recently attacked by unknown assailants in the said salon in front of clients and her daughter.

“This did not begin today, over the years she has been made to pay ridiculous fines in all her salons just to frustrate her, recently she was even beaten by unknown assailants right inside the salon even in front of her daughter.

“What is unfair is that she is being manhandled for giving a service to her clients with discriminating, everyone needs their hair done and she was one of the best in her field,” said one of Chimwayi’s employees.
