GWANDA-BASED sungura musician and entrepreneur Thembinkosi Ndlovu, affectionately known as Master Zhoe, believes in the power of reinvention and collaboration.
The 40-year-old has forged impactful partnerships with top South African artistes and local talents, establishing himself in a league of his own.
Speaking to Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Master Zhoe described the 2025 season as a game-changer.
“The 2025 season has been a year of growth and new energy for me. I have been experimenting with new sounds, connecting with different audiences, and preparing projects that showcase my evolution as an artist.
“It has always been my wish to create something that fans will cherish for years to come, and in my case, I have good music for my fans,” he shared.
With a few weeks left before the usually money-spinning festive season, Master Zhoe has vowed not to end 2025 empty-handed.
“I am one of those who believe in hard work and currently, we have a new single titled ‘Musikana,’ which has an accompanying video.
“It took us three months to work on it and now that it is out, fans can expect nothing but fireworks as we unveil it to the people.
“All in all, I have seven albums, including the one I did with Sungura Godfather Nicholas Zakaria and another one in which I featured various artists like Nutty O, Professor Kawa from SA, as well as Diliza and Sandra Ndebele.”
Master Zhoe has also addressed reports suggesting he was biased towards entertaining fans from Matabeleland and his region.
“I’m working on collaborations with artists from Mashonaland to bridge the gap and bring our sounds together.
“Music is universal and I believe blending different styles and languages helps connect with a wider audience.
“I’m not biased; I just celebrate my roots and the stories of my people.
“Matabeleland inspires my music but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate other regions. Every artist draws from what shapes them,” he clarified.
He assured fans that he has a lot in store for them this festive season.
“Like I said earlier, all my fans must get ready because I’m dropping a new single and video titled ‘Musikana,’ featuring Zhezhingtons, which will be out this coming Saturday.
“It’s something that I hope will leave fans yearning for the festive season.”
Despite his busy schedule, Master Zhoe’s career has been a fairy tale punctuated by hard work, consistency, and innovation.
A firm admirer of Madzibaba Zakaria, Master Zhoe was never shy to engage him for collaborations and the move has worked wonders for him.
His efforts to lure regionally acclaimed artists over the years have demonstrated his hunger to succeed in music.
One of his albums, “Tsunami,” propelled him to acclaim.
Although it was his sixth straight video album, Master Zhoe is undoubtedly one of Zimbabwe’s top acts doing wonders in Gwanda.
He has even gone the extra mile, collaborating with the “Young Turks” of showbiz, including Nutty O on the song “Need You,” Khayalami featuring Percy, and Mzoe 7, among others.
When it comes to live shows, he is known for his well-choreographed acts and mastery on stage.
His influence has also been embraced in Bulawayo, a city where fans’ tastes are hard to meet.
Locally, he has proven to be a dominant force, commanding a huge following in Gwanda, Victoria Falls, Beitbridge and South Africa, especially in Limpopo Province.
He has also been making great strides in Gauteng Province with his music.
Armed with major collaborations, Master Zhoe is undoubtedly one of Zimbabwe’s popular names thriving on hard work and resilience.
