FLAMBOYANT businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo has once again opened his wallet wide, this time blessing popular comedian Comic Elder, real name Leroy Tadiwanashe Zaware, with US$150 000 to buy a house of his choice.
The generous gesture comes hot on the heels of Comic Elder’s recent windfall after President ED Mnangagwa gifted him a brand-new Ford Raptor following his triumph at the inaugural National Youth Symposium, where he scooped the Best Comedy Award.
Chivayo said laughter is powerful medicine, describing Comic Elder as one of the youthful entertainers healing the nation through humour.
“Today, I wish to celebrate an extraordinary young man,” said Sir Wicknell. “His natural humour has earned him great admiration across the country and even made the President laugh. As a small token of my appreciation for your hard work and comical talent, please go and see my lawyer, Sikhumbuzo Mpofu, on Friday and collect US$150 000 in cash so you can buy yourself a decent house in any area of your choice.”
He said the gesture should inspire young people to stay dedicated to their passions.
“This should serve as an inspiration to all young people that with patience, hard work and passion, your time will certainly come,” said Chivayo.
Comic Elder’s meteoric rise from skit maker to celebrated comedian has been nothing short of phenomenal, and now, thanks to Sir Wicknell, he can laugh all the way home.
