Teenagers and women are in charge at the on-going tournament which ends on Sunday.
He said expectations were that other politicians in the region would sponsor such events to uplift lives as sport is one of the pillars of National Development Strategy 2 pillars.
He was also delighted that an event like this was happening at a formerly marginalised region.
Teams are taking part in both netball and soccer events whose finals are set for this afternoon.
