Residents of Tynwald North and surrounding areas in Ward 41 are set to benefit from a series of road rehabilitation projects, thanks to the efforts of the local councillor, Kudzai Kadzombe.

On Thursday, Cllr Kadzombe coordinated with engineers from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development to address pressing concerns over the state of Kirkman Road and Tynwald Road, two vital arteries in the suburb.

In response to residents’ worries about potential disruptions, Cllr Kadzombe confirmed discussions with ministry engineers that Kirkman Road would only be partially closed during the works, with a comprehensive transport management plan in place to minimise inconvenience.

“If you experience any inconvenience during this period, please do not hesitate to contact ministry engineers directly,” she assured residents, providing contact details for immediate feedback.

The Ministry of Transport, through its Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme, is working closely with local authorities and technical leads in the ministry to address Harare’s widespread road challenges, with Ward 41’s projects serving as a model for community-inclusive infrastructure development.

Beyond infrastructure, Cllr Kadzombe is also tackling the growing economic and social hardships faced by Ward 41’s most vulnerable residents-pensioners, widows, and orphans. In partnership with the ward’s three junior councillors, she has launched a heartfelt appeal for donations of clothes, toys, groceries, and books, urging residents to share unused items with those in need.

“My family and I have also done the same,” she shared, highlighting her personal commitment to the cause.

The initiative, supported by the local business community, will see grocery hampers and other essentials distributed suburb by suburb, with junior councillors playing a key role in identifying deserving recipients and coordinating deliveries.

Residents are encouraged to submit names of those in need, ensuring that support reaches the most deserving.

This collaborative approach not only addresses immediate material needs but also fosters a spirit of unity and collective responsibility within the community.
