US country music legend Dolly Parton (pictured) died yesterday at the age of 80, her family announced in a statement shared on social media.
Her nephew and security chief, Bryan Seever, confirmed her death in a video posted to Parton’s official social media channels.
Parton was behind global hits including “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You”.
According to Seever, Parton wanted the latter phrase to be used as her final farewell.
The singer, songwriter and actress was one of the most influential figures in country music and shaped music and popular culture over a career spanning decades.
Parton’s last post on X was published on August 15 — a video of her famous duet with Kenny Rogers.
In May, the country star pulled out of a highly anticipated Las Vegas residency, which was due to commence next month.
She had already postponed her six-date run at The Colosseum Theatre at Caesars Palace from December 2025 to deal with “health challenges”. – euronews
