Court orders Lafarge to pay over US$300k debt

HIGH Court Judge, Justice Jacob Manzunzu, has ordered Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe Limited to pay US$318 322.34 it owes Rubtech Machinery and Spares (Pvt) Limited.

Justice Manzunzu also ordered the cement manufacturing company to pay the interest and the cost of suit incurred by Rubtech Machinery and Spares, failure to do so will result in the attachment of Lafarge’s property.

“It is ordered that the defendant (Lafarge) shall pay to the plaintiff the sum of US$307 204.49 together with interest thereon at the prescribed rate calculated from 16 November 2020 to ‘the date of full and final payment, payable at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe auction rate on the date of payment.

“The defendant shall pay to the Plaintiff the sum of US$14 1 17,85 together with interest thereon at the prescribed rate calculated from 16 November 2020 to the date of full and final payment, payable at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe auction rate on the date of payment. The defendant shall pay costs of suit on an attorney-client scale.”
