A COWDRAY Park marriage allegedly collapsed over a single United States dollar, leaving a husband with facial injuries and a wife now reportedly on the run from the law.

Veronica Kwaramba (38) appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a charge of physical abuse after allegedly stabbing her husband three times on the face with a broken bottle during a domestic dispute over US$1.

The court heard that Kwaramba was remanded out of custody after her husband, Timothy Munonji, pleaded with the court for mercy, telling the magistrate that they have a four year old child who needs her mother.
She was remanded to 27 January, pending a medical report.

physical abuse

Kwaramba was expected back in court on Tuesday but failed to turn up, prompting the court to issue a warrant of arrest. The once pitied wife has now officially graduated to husband stabber on the run.

Prosecutor Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the offence occurred on 20 January at around 10.14am. On that day, Munonji asked his wife for his US$1, but she refused to hand it over.

The refusal sparked an argument that quickly escalated from words to weapons.
The court heard that during the heated exchange, Kwaramba allegedly grabbed an empty bottle, smashed it and used the jagged edges to stab her husband three times on the face.

A police report was made and Munonji was referred to hospital for medical attention.
After begging the court to protect his wife for the sake of their child, Munonji now finds himself nursing wounds while the woman accused of stabbing him has vanished.
Police are now hunting for the Cowdray Park woman as the law looks to collect what the husband could not.
