A 28-YEAR-OLD Marange man, who allegedly raped his 10-year-old daughter after luring her under the pretext that he wanted to teach her to use a mobile phone has appeared in court.
The man (name withheld to protect the victim) who resides in Mariwo Village under Chief Marange has since appeared before Magistrate Sekai Chiundura at the Mutare Magistrate Courts facing rape charges.
He is being charged with rape as defined in Section 65 (1) as Read with Section 64 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

“On August 8 and at around 2300 hours at their home, the father was seated on the clay soil made bench around the kitchen hut and he was in the company of the complainant.
“He then lured her by pretending to teach her how to operate a mobile phone. He then raped her afterwards. He threatened to kill the complainant if she informed anyone about the case,” said Nyatsuro.
The prosecutor also said on the following day and three other days which followed, the man used the same modus operandi of luring the complainant with his mobile phone and raping her afterwards.
The complainant did not inform anyone about the abuse during those days.
“However, on September 15 the complainant proceeded to a nearby village where her mother resides and she informed her about the abuse. The next day, the mother escorted the complainant to ZRP Marange where they reported the case to the police and they were further referred to Victorio Chitepo Provincial Hospital for medical examination,” said Nyatsuro.
The matter is currently undergoing trial before the courts.
The father had denied the rape charges.
