A HOME-GROWN, real-time monitoring and evaluation platform, the Chiringa Dashboard, has been expanded and incorporated into National Development Strategy 2, with its scope widened to include the economic cluster.
The system was first deployed during NDS1 to track Government programmes and projects within the social services cluster.
Following the adoption of the Whole-of-Government Approach, it has now been scaled up under NDS2 to provide a comprehensive view of both social and economic sector performance.
The digital dashboard, which has been adopted by Government as a central tool for tracking programmes and projects, is expected to be officially launched by President Mnangagwa in March this year.
Developed under the Office of the Vice President Dr Kembo Mohadi in partnership with BUSE, the digital platform enables real-time monitoring of projects, offering visual evidence and financial accountability.
It will then allow leadership to assess progress across ministries without relying on conventional written reports.
BUSE Vice Chancellor Professor Eddie Mwenje said the system was designed to enhance transparency and coordination at the highest level of Government.
He said the dashboard allows the President and senior Government officials to view live project updates, including images, funding status and inter-ministerial collaboration-all from a single interface.
Prof Mwenje said reports can be generated instantly from the system, eliminating delays associated with manual reporting.
“During NDS1, initially, we needed a monitoring system and this is why, actually, we came up with this system.
“The President is able, actually, from his dashboard, to see what every ministry is doing, at real time.
“They can be able to see images.
“He would be able to see the ministries that are contributing to finances, if they have released monies for that and ministries that are collaborating, that are working together. So, this is very important and he can be able to get a report that he wants.
“Nobody is sitting down to write a report.
“You can actually extract a report from that.
“So, this system is very important” he said.
Prof Mwenje said there are nearly 120 projects that have been registered under the home-grown monitoring system, with great expectation of increasing the number when the economic cluster is fully incorporated.
He indicated that the dashboard has worked well and posted positive results.
“Right now, as we speak, about 119 projects are registered on this system.
“We can see them happening and people are able to derive from this,” he said.
“I think it has worked very well for the social service cluster, which we started working with.
“But now we have incorporated the economic service sector and this is now being developed for NDS2.
“It I think it should be launched in March,” he said.
He said Chiringa was initially introduced during NDS1 as part of the 100-day cycle programme and has since become a key governance tool.
