HARARE giants Dynamos have been uncharacteristically busy in this year’s Premier Soccer League mid-season trans-fer window.
After a low key start to the term, Dynamos have found their groove, and that has largely been thanks to their activity on the market, in which they have brought a mix of foreign and local talent.
It has emerged that the Glamour Boys are aiming to wrap up their mid-season transfer business by roping in highly-rated Ghanaian midfielder Godknows Dzakpasu to strengthen their player ranks.
The 29-year-old midfielder starred for the reigning Ghanaian champions Medeama last season, and his contract with the West Africans expired on June 30.
Although there have been indications that the parties were negotiating a potential renewal, sources yesterday told Zimpapers Sports Hub that the midfielder had agreed in principle with the Harare giants to come to Zimbabwe.
Dzakpasu’s Zimbabwean handlers also confirmed the development.
Player intermediary George Deda said they have all but sealed the deal.
“I can confirm there have been negotiations with the player, and there have been some agreements between the parties. So, it’s good as done.
“The people at Dynamos have all the finer details.
“But what I can tell you is that this guy is a good player, one of the best midfielders in the Ghana Premier League in the past few seasons,” said Deda.
Dzakpasu was a key member of the Medeama side for the past three years, having joined them in 2023 from Tamale where he kicked off his professional football career.
He was rated one of the best defensive midfielders in the Ghana Premier League during the 2025/26 season, helping Medeama clinch their maiden league title.
Dzakpasu has also featured for the Tarkwa-based side in the CAF Champions League previously, and his experience is likely to help DeMbare in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign this year.
Although DeMbare authorities were not immediately available for comment yesterday, Dzakpasu could become the second West African player to be signed by Dynamos during the current window, as they target to bolster the quality of their squad for the remainder of the season.
Apart from competing in the Confederation Cup, Dynamos, who are third on the Premiership table, have made no secret of their ambitions to reclaim the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title and also become the inaugural winners of the ZIFA Munhumutapa Cup, which starts on August 7.
DeMbare, now under the guidance of Romanian Aristica Cioaba, have since enlisted the services of Burkina Faso winger Ben Daouda Sidibe, who scored his first goal when the Glamour Boys edged FC Platinum 1-0 at Mandava last week.
Sidibe, who also played his professional football in Ghana with Aduana, was featuring in his second game for the Glamour Boys, having made a quiet debut in the goalless draw against Simba Bhora at Rufaro.
It appears new Dynamos technical director Cioaba is deliberately targeting talent from Ghana, where he had a stint with Aduana.
DeMbare are also understood to be closing in on Burundian attacking midfielder Ramela Harerimana and Ghanaian defender Desmond Obeng.
Cioaba has repeatedly indicated his desire to build a squad capable of implementing his preferred style of football, which emphasises possession, speed, and attacking play.
Since his arrival, Dynamos have been working on a new style of play, which appears to be working as the Glamour Boys have now extended their unbeaten run in the league to 13 games.
Cioaba was directly involved in at least four of the matches, winning three and drawing one.
Dynamos have risen to third on the log standings with 44 points and are still cherishing their chances in the title race as they trail log leaders Scottland by eight points.
In underscoring their new found love with West African football, DeMbare have also short-listed Ghanaian coach Mawulorm Lawrence, who served as Cioaba’s assistant at Aduana.
His arrival is expected to boost their technical bench that was left thin following the departure of Genesis Mangombe and his assistants.
With the Premiership mid-season transfer window approaching the closing stages, local clubs have been hard at work to beef up their squads in the face of a demanding schedule that will also see teams compete for the Chibuku Super Cup honours.
There has also been a growing pattern of the local clubs placing their faith in foreign talent, with Chicken Inn unveiling 26-year-old Congolese midfielder Gracia Mpongo Mbombo this week, while champions Scottland used their participation at the Toyota Cup against Kaizer Chiefs in Rustenburg to parade Brazilian midfielder Anderson Cardoso de Campos.
