MRS Nancy Mafudza Mhetu, married to CCC National Assembly member for the Epworth North constituency Mr Zivai Mhetu, has joined ZANU PF, saying she has been captivated by the significant economic developments initiated by President Mnangagwa.
In an interview Mrs Mhetu said:
“I joined ZANU PF after witnessing the positive initiatives led by the Government. It is the hope of every Zimbabwean to see the country progress. Remaining in opposition while the nation makes significant strides in improving the economy holds no value. We must support government programmes that empower every citizen.”
Asked if her decision would affect her marriage, she affirmed that her loyalty lies with ZANU PF, emphasising her right to choose her political affiliation.
“I was raised in a ZANU PF family, so I want to return home. Yes, my husband is in the opposition: it’s his choice. Who knows, he might even join ZANU PF in the future. Zimbabwe is a democratic nation,” she said.
Mrs Mhetu said she is committed to even lure her husband to join the ruling party.
“It’s of no use to remain in opposition politics when everyone joins the ruling party. I will try to encourage him to join ZANU PF,” she said.
Mrs Mhetu commended ZANU PF Youth League Deputy Secretary for the Commissariat Cde Taurai Kandishaya for persuading her to join the ruling party.
Cde Kandishaya emphasised that the ruling party is a people’s movement, firmly rooted in the masses and driven by the lasting values of unity, peace and development for the national cause.
