The Zanu PF Youth League has said the development that the country is currently undergoing ahead of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit will continue even after the conference.
The Youth League said the developments are not meant for the Summit, but for the country’s development.
Deputy Secretary for the Commissariat in the Youth League, Cde Taurai Kandishaya said the developments that are taking place in the country are a result of President Mnangagwa’s good work
“Whenever hosting a Summit, any country improves its infrastructure,” he said.
“When South Africa hosted the World Cup in 2010, they were left with stadia. The Rainbow Towers we have today was constructed from 1984 to 1985 when we wanted to host the Non-Aligned Movement Summit, the one that was recently held in Uganda.
“Currently the Rainbow Towers is operating very well and people are happy with it but it was constructed for the NAM Summit.
“You look at the villas that are being constructed at the new Parliament, they are Government villas. Whenever there is a new development, Government must take the lead.”
Cde Kandishaya said every development that the President has initiated and facilitated is taking shape within the confines of the agreed time.
“People must not blame the President for meeting targets. The SADC Summit is a strategic event for making meaningful decisions for the development of SADC,” he said.
“We do not care about those people who are saying the developments are only taking place because of the Summit. What is important is for us to build the country and go forward,” said Cde Kandishaya.
