After two years, award-winning producer, artist, businessman, DJ and hitmaker Tlou Cleopas Monyepao also known as DJ Cleo, has left Radio 2000.
The winner of several music awards, DJ Cleo, hosted the dance show “The Eskhaleni Party” on Fridays, 10.00pm – 00.00pm.
DJ Cleo shared a statement on social media announcing to listeners and his supporters that he would be leaving the station to focus on his music.
“My journey started on the 5th April 2024. I am incredibly proud of the growth we achieved. Throughout my tenure, I have delivered a one-of-a-kind programme that went far beyond my expected KPIs. I stepped in for absent colleagues with absolute professionalism and maintained an unblemished disciplinary record with management. I have never been absent.
“I am eternally grateful to Mr Tony Soglo and management for identifying me as the ideal candidate to host this show, which I named ‘The Eskhaleni Party with DJ Cleo’. Seeing the show nominated for the Telkom Radio Awards after just its first year on the airwaves remains a massive highlight.”
DJ Cleo went on to explain that deciding to leave the station wasn’t difficult, as he is choosing to focus on his music career, family, academic journey and his “peace and mental health”.
“Moving forward, I will dedicate my time to my degree, live gigs and artist development, including my current proteges uMainfrend Womzulu, Pulinshki and others. I am not leaving to join a competing station; any future career moves will be given slow and deliberate consideration.”
The multi-award-winning musician added that he holds the SABC brand and Radio 2000 in high regard and they will continue to receive respect from him. “I had an amazing 28 months on the job and will not taint it by saying anything else beyond this point, or on any platform.” – IOL
