BULAWAYO-based DJ Liz is setting her sights on expanding her career beyond the City of Kings and Queens after an impressive recent showing at the 2026 Castle Lager Braai Fest in Harare.
The deejay, who was among the few female acts on the line-up, had her hour-long set cut to 30 minutes due to time constraints. However, she still managed to make an impression behind the decks.
DJ Liz said she was proud to have introduced Bulawayo’s sound to the Harare audience and was now looking to grow her brand across the country.
“My strategy was to give them what we do in Bulawayo. Not to mix genres — just house, the right way. I started with old-school house and piano that people know. I hadn’t even reached the peak yet; that was just my build-up,” she said.
“You can imagine how crazy it was going to be if I had been given the opportunity to finish my set. Through my experience at Braai Fest, I made contacts and had people making inquiries, so hopefully we will get to work together. What’s next for me is more local bookings in Bulawayo and, hopefully, more out-of-town gigs,” she said.
DJ Liz thanked the Castle Lager team for giving her the opportunity to perform at the festival.
“I’m thankful and grateful to the Castle team for considering me and believing I was worthy of being part of the festival. It was an amazing and beautiful experience and a wonderful opportunity. I’m praying that we get to work together again in the future,” she said.
As the festive season approaches, DJ Liz said she was focused on building relationships with major companies and brands to create more opportunities for her career.
