DJ MAPHORISA TO ROCK H-TOWN, A WEEK AFTER KABZA DE SMALL

JUST a week after Kabza de Small rocked Harare, this partner-in-excellence, DJ Maphorisa, is coming to H-Town for the Sunshine City Festival at Alex Sports Club.

The festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Now in its second edition, the two-day festival, which coincides with Africa Day celebrations, celebrates the fusion of cultures.

Organisers Tamba Events have included an exciting line-up featuring both Zimbabwean and South African artists.

DJ Maphorisa is the headline act.

He will be joined on his trip to Harare by fellow Prince Kaybee and budding Kwaito music star, Toss.Altai Ensemble from Russia will also feature as a guest band.

Feli Nandi, Nisha Ts, Saintfloew, Oriyano and Nyasha David are among the top local acts.

Festival director, Nigel Chinovhiringa, said the event’s euphoria has already hit the capital.

“This is our final lap, everything is set, all the artists have been confirmed and we are promising a much bigger and organised event than last year.

“We are anticipating a big crowd, it’s going to be one of the biggest celebrations of different cultures and we have made sure we allocated enough stage time to our artists.

“We are inviting the whole family and we have planned various activities, including a marathon, soccer tournament and a children’s play area,” said Chinovhiringa.

Chinovhiringa said a number of athletes have also registered for their marathon.

“A number of local athletes have shown their interest in the marathon with distances of 5kms, 10kms and 21kms, participation medals and consolation prizes will be won.We are happy we have managed to get corporate sponsorship and, additionally, the festival will include a soccer tournament dubbed ‘Sunshine City Wafa-Wafa.’

“Various social clubs, including Vigilance FC, Zim Socialites and YOJA FC will battle it out for the top prize.”

The organisers have also included a camping experience for fans who would like to spend a night at Alex.
