ORGANISERS of the all-women Doek & Slay parties have said the UK edition promises to be a unique experience, blending Zimbabwean tradition with British flair
The Doek & Slay UK party will be held on September 6.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, the organisers said this edition will mark a new chapter for the event.
“We’re beyond excited to bring the authentic Doek and Slay experience to the UK, inspired by the numerous requests from African women in the UK who’ve fallen in love with the event back home.
“Our goal is to create a unique and empowering space that celebrates African culture, music and community.
“To stay true to its Zimbabwean roots while catering to a diverse UK audience, we’ll be bringing the same energy, vibe, and values that have made Doek and Slay a sensation in Zimbabwe.
“We’ll have a full live band, ensuring an unforgettable entertainment experience.
“In the UK, attendees can expect an immersive cultural experience, amazing networking opportunities and a celebration of African heritage.”
They added:
“We’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and empowered.
“What sets us apart from other festivals in the UK is our authenticity and originality − we’re bringing the genuine Doek and Slay experience to the UK, just as it is back home.”
“The ladies should expect live music and dance performances which will be a showcase of Zimbabwean culture. The ladies will have networking opportunities for women in business and the arts.
The Doek & Slay parties will be held from August to October in the UK, Zambia and Botswana.
The main show of the year will be held at Alex Sports Club on December 14.
The second half of the year events start at Mutare Sports Club on August 3, with Master H and Enzo Ishall providing the entertainment.
The Odyssey Kadoma event will feature Freeman and The Travellers Band on August 10.
There will be another event at Alex Sports Club in Harare on August 7 which will feature sungura kingpin Alick Macheso.
He will be joined on stage by Freeman and Nutty O on August 17.
Macheso will again be joined on stage by the Travellers Band on August 24 at Gweru Sports Club.
