UK-based Afro Fusion songstress Tendy Moyo Mazuru has urged fellow Zimbabweans living abroad not to lose their identity and connection to their culture, despite encountering people from diverse backgrounds.

Having resided in the UK for over two decades, Tendy emphasises that she has never strayed from her cultural roots or her native language.

In an interview, Tendy expressed that her music is deeply rooted in her Shona heritage while embracing modern Zimdancehall influences.

“My love for music began in childhood, singing alongside my sisters, and I have been writing my own songs since high school.

“I am a multi-talented performer since I also play African drums and have a background in musical theater.”

Her artistry is inspired by Zimdancehall figures such as Soulja Love, Freeman, Hwindi Prezident, and Bounty Lisa, whose passion and authenticity blends deeply in her own creative journey.

“In 2021, I recorded five songs with Oskid Productions, including ‘Bad Boy,’ ‘Push Through,’ ‘Moyo,’ ‘Ishe Jeso,’ and ‘Come Over My Soul.’

“I also featured on a track with Caff, which was later brought to life through a music video I released in 2023.

“This was a milestone and one of the most fulfilling moments of my career.

“Music is more than just an art form, it has been my lifelong companion and source of strength.

“Collaborating with industry visionaries such as Oskid, Macdonald ‘Macdee’ Chidavaenzi of Eternity Productions, and director Hastings has marked a significant full-circle moment in my artistic journey.”

Her latest single, “#1 Stunner,” produced by Macdee, showcases her growth as a musician and her passion for blending traditional roots with contemporary soundscapes.

“With every song, I continue to share my story, culture, and unwavering love for music with the world,” she added.

Married to Alex and a proud mother of three, Tendy has spent more than two decades living abroad but has never lost her connection to her culture, language, and musical identity.
