DREAMS CAN REALLY COME TRUE

YESTERDAY, we carried a feel-good article about celebrity saxophonist Denilson Musekiwa.

We published a photograph, in which Denilson was captured in his blue school uniform, with a shade of brown, grey socks and black shoes, posing with his relatives in their Zengeza 3 home garden.

Also captured in the same photograph is his relative Vongainashe Mubaiwa in her school uniform.

Denilson has since carved his name as a celebrity saxophonist who provides the soundtrack for many special occasions in Harare.

He has worked with some of the best artists in the country including Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Baba Harare, Trevor Dongo, Takura, Nutty O and Janet Manyowa.

It’s been quite a remarkable journey for Denilson who started as a pianist in church in 2010, turned into a guitarist four years later and a saxophonist in 2018.

He is no stranger to playing his saxophone at weddings but even in his wildest dreams he probably never imagined that one day he would be playing it at the wedding of his relative Vongaishe Mubaiwa.

They grew up together at Denilson’s family home in Zengeza 3 and recently they were at one of the most exclusive wedding venues in Africa, in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands, to celebrate as Vongaishe tied the knot.

Now 31, Vongaishe lives in Canada and she married her Nigerian sweetheart, Reney Edebiri, 35, who also lives in the North American country.

The wedding party started with a cocktail party at the Rooftop on Bree in Cape Town.

The ceremony then switched to the luxurious Johannesdal 1207, in the heart of Stellebosch, for the main ceremony.

It’s located at a farm, which was founded in 1898, and it has been transformed into one of the top wedding venues on the continent.

Vongaishe is a model for thousands of girls who are growing up in Chitungwiza and related urban settlements across the country.

She has shown that it’s not about where someone grows up, which matters at the end, but it’s about discipline and determination.

She has shown that even those who grew up in Chitungwiza can do well in life and can afford to have their wedding at some of the best wedding resorts in Africa.

Vongaishe knew the value of education and she has two degrees under her belt and this has helped her to pursue her dreams. She didn’t rush into marriage but she took her time to find the man of her dreams and, at the age of 31, decided that she had found him and tied the knot.

Like Vongaishe, Denilson also grew up in Chitungwiza but has found a way to rise to become one of the best celebrity saxophonists in the country.

He pursued his dreams, without carrying the baggage that he was just a boy from the townships, and now he is enjoying the fruits of his determination.

He is also a model for thousands of young men who are growing up in Chitungwiza and related urban settlements.
