Duo arrested to brutal assault of workmate, charged with attempted murder

TWO Bulawayo men appeared in court on Tuesday  for allegedly punching a complainant with fist all over the body and kicking him several times with booted feet.

Melusi Mlalazi (27) of Emakhandeni and Province Dube (38) of Pumula Old suburb appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate, Mr Pasipanodya Maturure, facing a charge of attempted murder.

They were remanded in custody to March 9 while awaiting a medical report.

Prosecutor, Ms Melissa Dube said the accused person and the complainant know each other as they work together.

Allegations are that on February 9, 2026 at around 10PM, the complainant Noel Chimanyi and the two accused persons were at an intersection of Hyde Park Road and Nketa Drive near Unathi Filling Station.

The court heard that a misunderstanding arose between them, which led the two accused persons to punch the complainant with fists all over the body several times.

The complainant fell to the ground, and accused persons kicked him with booted feet all over the body and went away leaving the complainant on the ground.

The complainant sustained injuries on the face and head and was referred to hospital for medical attention.

A police report was made leading to the arrest of the two accused persons.
