THE Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive and equitable education through an Early Warning System (EWS) designed to identify learners at risk of dropping out of school and facilitate timely interventions.

The initiative seeks to ensure that no learner is left behind by helping schools identify and address challenges such as early pregnancy, financial constraints, long walking distances, bullying and chronic absenteeism before they force pupils out of the education system.

Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Angeline Gata recently led a monitoring exercise at Goko High, Mutema High and Chipangayi High schools in Manicaland to assess the implementation of the system at institutional level.

During the visits, Deputy Minister Gata emphasised the importance of timely data collection, guidance and counselling services, as well as community engagement in keeping learners in school.

The Early Warning System is being implemented by the Ministry under the Whole of Government Approach, with support from Camfed Zimbabwe.

The programme is designed to strengthen the early identification of vulnerable learners and facilitate timely interventions by schools, families, communities and relevant Government departments.

Through the initiative, the Ministry seeks to address factors that threaten school attendance and completion while promoting an inclusive learning environment in which every child has an opportunity to complete their education.
