EMAKHANDENI WATCH MEMBER SHOT IN THE HEAD DIES: assailants still at large

A SOMBRE mood has engulfed Emakhandeni after a neighbourhood watch committee member, Godfrey Muzanenhamo, died from a gunshot wound he sustained during a routine patrol early Friday morning.

Muzanenhamo and his team were reportedly carrying out their usual night rounds shortly after midnight when they encountered a group of men emerging from a thicket. Sources say the patrol team stopped the men and asked where they were headed at that hour.

Without warning, one of the suspects allegedly drew a firearm and shot Muzanenhamo once in the head before fleeing into the darkness. The stunned patrol team rushed him to Mpilo Central Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit but sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The late Muzanenhamo is the father of Zimbabwe national netball player Nicole, who represented the Gems at the 2023 Netball World Cup in England.

Mourners are gathered at house number 70220 New Lobengula as police continue investigations into the killing of the respected community crime fighter.
