Residents of Emganwini in Bulawayo were left in shock after the body of Nkululeko Nyoni was discovered in what is suspected to be a case of murder.
Nyoni’s body was found on Sunday morning in a bushy area within the suburb, drawing crowds of concerned residents as authorities were alerted to the scene.
Initial indications suggest that Nyoni had been operating an illegal tshisanyama business in the Mbundane area together with his wife, Nobubelo Ndlovu.
The discovery has reopened painful questions for Nyoni’s family, who revealed that he and his wife mysteriously disappeared in 2022 without any communication.
A relative who spoke to reporters said the family had made several attempts to locate the couple but to no avail.
“They just disappeared in 2022 and no one knew where they had gone. We tried calling and searching for them but there was no communication at all,” said the relative.
The relative said the discovery of Nyoni’s body has brought both grief and uncertainty.
“Now that his body has been found, it has brought more pain and questions. We are still worried about what really happened and where his wife might be,” the relative said.
Residents in Emganwini said the incident has left the community unsettled, with many expressing concern over safety in the area.
Police are yet to issue an official statement as investigations into Nyoni’s death continue.
