Residents of Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo were left shocked after stumbling upon the body of a man, identified as Nkululeko Nyoni, in what is suspected to be a case of murder.
The grim discovery was made on Sunday morning, in a bushy area in the suburb, sending waves of fear and concern throughout the community as neighbours gathered at the scene while authorities were alerted.
Initial indications revealed that Nyoni had been operating an illegal tshisanyama business in the Mbundane area together with his wife, Nobubelo Ndlovu.
Family members say the discovery of Nyoni’s body has reopened painful questions surrounding the mysterious disappearance of the couple several years ago.
A relative who spoke to reporters said the family had not heard from Nyoni and his wife since 2022, when the pair suddenly vanished without any communication.
“They just disappeared in 2022 and no one knew where they had gone. We tried calling and searching for them but there was no communication at all,” said the relative.
The relative added that the discovery of Nyoni’s body had left the family deeply distressed and worried about what could have happened to the couple.
“Now that his body has been found, it has brought more pain and questions. We are still worried about what really happened and where his wife might be,” the relative said.
Residents in the area expressed shock over the incident, saying the discovery has unsettled the community.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the case as investigations continue.
