Epworth Local Board chairperson pushes for removal of refuse at shopping centres

Epworth Local Board chairperson, Councillor Nyarai Rutsito, has expressed concern over non-removal of refuse at all shopping centres in all seven wards in the area.

She asked for the removal of garbage at shopping centres during a full board meeting held last week.

“That is the reason for the accumulation of the garbage,” she said.

Cllr Rutsito also asked the procurement department to speed up the repair of the council’s backhoe.

Epworth Local Board town secretary, Dr Wilton Mhanda, asked if the public health and safety manager could buy a skip bin to reduce illegal dumping concerns raised by Cllr Rutsito.

“Can’t we put a skip bin there but we were avoiding putting skip bins in areas that are not shopping centres,” he said.

“Can you consider putting a skip bin there or any other measures to stop dumping.”
