Ward 1 Councillor Benjamin Furamera has urged the Epworth Local Board to clear an illegal dumpsite opposite Muchemuche, saying it has remained unattended for nearly 10 months despite repeated reports.
Speaking during a full council meeting recently, Cllr Furamera said the site has become a growing concern, adding that there are no warning signs discouraging residents from dumping waste there.
“We have been reporting this here, but nothing is being done,” he said.
Responding to the concerns, Epworth Local Board Town Secretary Dr Wilton Mhanda said the local authority would assess the area and determine the best way to clear the illegal dumpsite.
He also appealed to residents to dispose of waste only at designated dumping sites.
Meanwhile, Dr Mhanda said the board would engage a specialist company to blast and remove rocks obstructing roads in Ward 6 and other affected areas.
The commitment follows a request by Ward 6 Councillor Civilised Bushe, who raised concerns over rocks blocking roads in his ward.
