GWANDA-based driving company, Excellent Driving School, has been awarded the prestigious “Driving School of the Year” accolade at the recent 2025 Beitbridge Sundrive Business Awards hosted by the Sundrive Coalition.
Despite being established less than two years ago and still in its formative stages, the company has earned recognition for its significant influence and impact in the driving school sector, outperforming several competitors nominated in the same category.
Excellent Driving School operations director, Mr Tapiwa Gift Tangira, proudly expressed their delight at the achievement and described the honour as ‘motivating’, as they plan to open branches in and around Matabeleland South Province.
“The reason we opened the driving school was because of our passion for road safety. I am deeply concerned when injuries and loss of life occur due to road accidents,” he said.
“Our vision is to provide excellent driving training programmes with the aim of reducing or preventing road traffic accidents. Receiving the Driving School of the Year award is not just an acknowledgement of our business; it is a profound recognition of a mission that we live every single day.”
Mr Tangira said their focus remains on building a community of safe, confident and responsible drivers, noting that a driver’s licence is not just a piece of plastic, but a powerful tool that carries enormous responsibility for drivers, passengers and everyone on the road.
He highlighted how this reflects their work ethic as an organisation, where instructors, staff and highly skilled teachers do more than teach manners — they instil confidence and demonstrate the true meaning of defensive driving.
“We also want to acknowledge the local community and our business partners for their unwavering support. Driving safety is a shared community effort, and we are proud to play our part. This award will hang on our wall as a powerful reminder of the standards we must maintain and the responsibility we have to the next generation of drivers. We promise to continue innovating our curriculum, investing in the best training techniques and upholding the integrity of our profession. We are committed to leading the way in road safety,” said Mr Tangira.
