ATENDA, the daughter of the late music legend Cde Chinx, is enjoying a rising profile in showbiz but insists that fame will not change who she is.

Nine years after her father’s death, the young musician is steadily carving out her own identity in showbiz, winning over audiences with her stage presence while remaining grounded despite her growing popularity.

Having scooped the Outstanding Breakthrough Musician award at this year’s 24th National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), Atenda is enjoying a promising start to her musical journey.

But as the spotlight grows brighter, she insists that fame will not change her, vowing to remain focused on improving her craft.

“The feedback I got was really amazing,” she said.

“I will keep working hard and make sure I continue improving. I would like to thank my entire team that I worked with.

“I won’t lose focus but will continue working hard.”

Atenda turns 21 next month.

“I can’t wait for my 21st birthday next month. I expected to be given the keys by my mother,” she chuckled, standing beside her mother, Ntombizodwa Mangota.

“I can cook and wash dishes at home.

“I still remain a child at home, a musician on stage and a celebrity in showbiz,” she said.

She was among the standout young performers at the 2026 Anti-Sanctions Gala in Bindura.
