Famona resident appeals for urgent action over months-long water leak

I am appealing for urgent assistance regarding a serious water leak at my property situated at 81 Matopos Road, Famona, in Bulawayo.

The matter was first reported to the relevant authorities in October 2025 under report number 2510W2095. Unfortunately, despite the report being logged several months ago, no one has attended to the problem.

Before I travelled to the United Kingdom in January 2026, the City’s meter reader visited the property twice and acknowledged the leak, assuring us that he had also reported the matter. However, nothing has been done to date.

Family members and caretakers who remained at the house have continuously phoned the relevant offices while I have also made efforts from abroad, all without success.

What started as a leak has now worsened significantly. Water is now gushing out uncontrollably and there are fears that the pipe could completely burst at any time, potentially causing extensive damage to the property wall and surrounding infrastructure.

Apart from the damage risk, this is also resulting in massive water wastage at a time when residents are constantly being urged to conserve water.

I therefore humbly appeal through your publication for the responsible authorities to urgently attend to this matter before further damage occurs.
