“This decision was made following an unexpected personal matter relating to gender-based violence that requires Fifi’s immediate attention.”
With those words, MoCooper Records announced that South African rapper Fifi Cooper has suspended her “1 Night With Fifi Cooper Tour” with immediate effect, saying that the artist’s safety and the well-being of her family are the top priority.
In a statement released on behalf of the rapper, the record label said that the difficult decision was made after careful consideration and that all upcoming tour activities have been paused while Cooper deals with the personal matter.
“After careful consideration, we at MoCooper Records and Fifi Cooper regret to announce that, unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the ‘1 Night With Fifi Cooper Tour’, effective immediately.
“Further details regarding new dates will be communicated in due course once finalised,” the statement said.
The label added that its immediate focus is ensuring Cooper has the time and space she needs.
“Our main objective is to urgently prioritise the safety and well-being of her and her family. As a result, upcoming tour activities will be paused.”
As a result, the first two dates on the tour have been cancelled. These include the July 25 performance at Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre and the August 1 show in Mahikeng.
Fans who bought tickets through official ticketing platforms will not need to apply for refunds. According to MoCooper Records, the refund process has already been initiated, and payments will be returned through the original method used to purchase the tickets.
The label also thanked supporters who have reached out with messages of encouragement during what it described as a challenging time.
“On behalf of Fifi Cooper, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all those who have reached out in support. Special thanks to our media partners, brand partners and most importantly, the fans for their ongoing love, understanding and unwavering support during an exceptionally challenging time.”
Cooper also addressed her supporters directly, apologising for the disappointment caused by the sudden cancellation while promising to return to the stage.
“To FIFINATION, I am so grateful for each and every one of you. I can’t thank you enough for the loyalty, love and support that you’ve shown me throughout my career. I am so deeply sorry that we have had to make these changes,” she said.
“I apologise for any disappointment caused. This was not my intention. I intend to come back stronger. I’ve always drawn so much strength from you, and because of that, I will face this with my head held high and leading with faith.”
MoCooper Records said that any updates on rescheduled tour dates will be shared through Cooper’s official social media channels and asked the public to respect the privacy of the artist and her family during this time – IOL.
