In the scorching heat of Harare South, a tale of bravery and swift action unfolded as the Fire Brigade sprang into action to contain a raging inferno that threatened to destroy properties in Fidelity Southview Park. The facility, used for collecting and storing recyclable plastics and sacks, had been reduced to a smoldering ruin after an unknown individual allegedly started a fire to burn garbage nearby.
As the flames danced and billowed, the Fire Brigade team responded with speed, racing to the scene to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.
With precision and skill, they battled the fire, making multiple trips to and from water points to refill their tanks. The sheer volume of plastics and sacks fueling the fire was formidable, but the team’s determination ultimately paid off as they brought the inferno under control.
This remarkable display of bravery and teamwork was not an isolated incident for the team. Earlier that day, they had responded to another distress call at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where a fire broke out.
With their prompt and effective response, they prevented what could have been a catastrophic disaster.
The Fire Brigade’s heroics serve as a testament to their unwavering commitment to protecting the people and property. The recent acquisition of fire tenders from Belarus has undoubtedly enhanced their capabilities, enabling them to respond more efficiently to emergencies, thanks to the Second Republic.
As the fire season approaches, running from July through to November, with its heightened risk of devastating blazes, the citizens of Harare and other parts of the country can take comfort in knowing that their Fire Brigade is ever vigilant, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice.
