Former boxing champion Alfonso “Mosquito” Zvenyika says he has fallen on hard times and is planning a sponsored walk to raise funds for his ailing wife’s medical care.

“Things are not going well with me,” Mosquito told Zimpapers. “My wife has been ill since last year and I have already sold part of our property to cover hospital and medical bills.

“At one time, I fell sick and was admitted for two weeks while my wife was also under weather.”

Mosquito plans to walk from Marondera to the Harare Main Post Office to raise money for medication and two operations his wife, Jesman Zvenyika, requires.

He said boxing promoter Mau Mau has been assisting him.
