Former deputy minister Chapfika dies in accident

FORMER Deputy Minister of Finance and Zanu PF Central Committee member Cde David Chapfika has died.

He was 68.

Cde Chapfika died after being involved in a road traffic accident in the early hours of yesterday near Shamva, Mashonaland Central Province.

Zanu PF political commissar for Mashonaland East Province Cde Lincoln Matare confirmed the tragedy.

“We are saddened by the untimely death of Cde David Chapfika in an accident yesterday.”

He said Cde Chapfika was a dedicated cadre of the party, who was a former Member of Parliament for Mutoko North, and previously served as Deputy Minister of Finance.

“His contribution to the development of our nation and unwavering loyalty to the party will always be remembered,” Cde Matare said.

Last night, National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the fatal accident.

“We will be releasing more details on this tomorrow (today),” he said.  Burial arrangements will be announced soon.
