Machaya High School
For years Machaya High School only had O’ level classrooms, so the A level students had to be in those classes not in use.
Initiated in 2016 by the then Head at Machaya High School Mr Mugugu, the A Level block project had remained unfinished for years. The walls at the roofing level, survived heavy rains, storms and harsh weather for nine years. Sitting on the peripheral part of the school, nobody had ever dreamt that, one day it would be the most beautiful Block at the school.
The School Head Mr James in collaboration with the SDC Chair, Mr Mukaradzi called for an urgent meeting with local village heads to discuss on how best the project could be completed. In the meeting Headman Gunduza vowed “to support the school in all developmental issues.”
Mr Mukaradzi told the village heads, “We have students, we have teachers, what we don’t have is shelter for them. “
The village Heads then set up a committee which then sourced funds for angle irons for the roof. Then some bags of cement and iron sheets were provided by Dr Zhemu Soda — Muzarabani North Constituency MP, an indication of his unwavering support for the dear school. Muzarabani Rural District council also supplied cement, for plastering and beam filling.
Funds from the school were used to pay for labour, tiles, cement and the other remaining building material.
United they stood as ward 27 to fulfill their dream. The gesture shown by residents of Museredza ward is a clear testimony that, nothing beats a united community.
The Head, Mr James thanked the parents in the 2025 Annual General meeting.
He said, “Machaya High School extends heartfelt gratitude to the parents , community members and all the donors whose support made the A Level block a reality.”
A Level students welcomed the development as a long awaited promise and vowed to pay back the community by producing good results to keep the Machaya flag flying high.
