The Zimbabwe National Army today (Wednesday) held a funeral parade for the late Brigadier-General (Retired) Donald Silundi Tshuma at Imbizo Barracks in Bulawayo.
ZNA Commander Lieutenant-General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi presided over the ceremony as chief mourner.
Brig-Gen (Rtd) Tshuma died on May 15, 2026, at his residence in Nkulumane 12 suburb in Bulawayo. He was 71.
His Chimurenga name during the liberation struggle was Henry Silundi.

The late Brig-Gen Tshuma is remembered as one of the senior liberation war cadres who contributed to Zimbabwe’s independence struggle before serving in the country’s armed forces after Independence.
After the liberation war, many former freedom fighters went on to form the backbone of the Zimbabwe National Army, playing critical roles in national defence, security and institution building.
His death comes at a time when the nation continues to honour veterans of the liberation struggle whose sacrifices helped secure Zimbabwe’s Independence in 1980.
