TWO Bulawayo men have appeared in court for allegedly assaulting a complainant following a misunderstanding that arose after the complainant won in a gambling expedition.

Andile Ndlovu (25) and Musawenkosi Ndlovu (21), both of Old Lobengula suburb, appeared before Western Commonage Regional Magistrate Mr Pasipanodya Maturure, facing an attempted murder charge.

They were both remanded in custody until April 27, awaiting a medical report, as the complainant is still admitted to the hospital.
Prosecuting, Ms Melissa Dube said that on April 11, 2026, at around 1:30 PM, the accused persons and the complainant, Nolen Nyathi (39), were at Malaba Shopping Centre in Old Lobengula and were gambling.

She said a misunderstanding arose when the complainant had won, which led to the accused persons assaulting him. They allegedly struck him once on the head with a stone, used a pool stick to assault him several times on both knees, and kicked him several times on the head.

The court heard that the complainant sustained a deep cut on the head and severe pain, and was referred to hospital for medical attention.

A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused persons, said Ms Dube.
