THE countdown has begun for the second edition of the Phinifa Festival, a cultural celebration that is carving a niche as one of Zimbabwe’s distinctive platforms for promoting women empowerment.
Set for August 15 in Bulawayo, the festival is expected to bring together people from across the country for a day that blends entertainment with cultural preservation, entrepreneurship and the celebration of womanhood.
Festival hosts will include media personality MaNare and acclaimed content creator Dramatic Miss.
Founded by Nobukhosi Hlahla, Phinifa Festival was established last year to promote Zimbabwe’s cultural identity while creating opportunities for women, creatives and small businesses to showcase their talents.
She said the initiative is aimed at preserving cultural practices and ensuring they remain relevant while being passed on to younger generations.
This year’s edition will run under the theme “Phinifa and Apron on Fleek”, placing the spotlight on traditional attire and Zimbabwe’s diverse culinary heritage.
Hlahla said attendees can expect a vibrant showcase featuring traditional fashion displays, indigenous food exhibitions, live music performances, cultural dances, art exhibitions and a marketplace for local entrepreneurs.
