Government approves Chitungwiza’s US$48,5 million 2026 budget

The Minister of Local Government and Public Works has approved Chitungwiza Municipality’s US$48,5 million 2026 budget.

In a notice, the council said the budget was approved in terms of Section 47 (1) of the Public Finance Management Act (Chapter 22:19).

“The approval of the 2026 budget provides the framework for the municipality to implement its planned service delivery programmes and capital projects for the year,” reads the notice.

“The municipality extends its sincere gratitude to all residents and stakeholders who participated in the 2026 budget consultation meetings and contributed to the budget formulation process.”

The municipality urged ratepayers to settle their bills on time for it to improve service delivery and effectively serve the community.

Chitungwiza Municipality spokesperson, Mr Tafadzwa Kachiko, said proposed tariffs for sewerage is US$6,61, fixed water US$3,55 and refuse US$4,04.
