Government lights up Zaka rural

ENERGY and Power Development Minister July Moyo has presided over the electricity switch-on ceremony at Mbuyamaswa Business Centre in Zaka North in a development that adds impetus to the Government’s rural modernisation drive.

The power project was implemented by the Government through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and connected power to Mbuyamaswa and Manokore primary school, Mbuyamaswa Clinic and Business Centre together with Kwamutevhure Secondary School.

In his address at the power switch-on ceremony, Minister Moyo lauded the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for walking the talk on the ”leaving no one and no place behind’ philosophy.

Minister Moyo said electrification of remote rural areas spoke to Vision 2030 and boosted education, health and rural businesses in line with Vision 2030.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Power Development Yeukai Simbanegavi urged communities in Mbuyamaswa to take advantage of the electrification of their area to embark on income-generating projects and shun rural to urban migration.

Chief Nhema, Mr Rangarirai Bwawanda, hailed President Mnangagwa for bringing development to rural areas saying the nation must support the Head of State to see through his Vision of making Zimbabwe an upper middle-income economy.

Minister Moyo handed over computers to Mbuyamaswa and Manokore Primary schools together with Kwamutevhure High School that were donated by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA).
