Government secures US$100 million for infrastructure development

THE Government has secured US$100 million for the newly unveiled Infrastructure Development Fund, dedicated to the development and rehabilitation of roads and bridges across Zimbabwe.
Presenting the Mid-Term Budget Review Statement, Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said the fund will be officially launched on a date to be announced.
The fund is expected to provide additional financing for infrastructure rehabilitation as Government continues to prioritise improvements to the country’s road network and bridges.
Professor Ncube said most of the funds that had been allocated for infrastructure development and rehabilitation had already been disbursed.
“We have disbursed the majority of funds set aside for infrastructure development and rehabilitation,” he said.
“We unveiled a infrastructure development fund and through the President we have already secured US$100 million for the fund.
“The loans will be repaid through tolls collected by Zinara”
