South African thespian Dawn Thandeka King is set to receive a grand welcome when she lands at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo on April 3, ahead of her journey to Nkayi.
King, who is expected to arrive at 1530hrs, is among the distinguished guests attending this year’s Imiklomela kaDakamela Cultural Festival, taking place at Chief Dakamela’s homestead in Nkayi, Matabeleland North, from 3 to 6 April.
She will be greeted at the airport by award-winning poetess Um’Africakazi, who will lead a group of her fans in the reception.
At the festival, King will be honoured with a special accolade in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the arts, cultural representation, and social impact through her work in film, music, and public advocacy.
Originally from Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, King is a celebrated, multi-award-winning actress, musician, motivational speaker, and influencer. She is widely recognised for her commanding portrayal of Mkabayi in the epic series Shaka iLembe and has also starred in popular telenovelas, including Uzalo and Lockdown.
