TAURAI “Gringaldino” Boora says he has a responsibility to uphold the legacy of his late father.
The comedian’s father, Lazarus “Gringo” Boora, died on November 9, 2020, after losing his battle with cancer.
Taurai and team are set to celebrate Gringo’s life through a range of activities, including music, dance, poetry and stand-up comedy.
It has been dubbed the “Gringo Festival.”
Taurai said the aim is to make the festival bigger and better each year so that his father’s legacy continues to inspire and unite the country.
“This is something we hope happens every year. Gringo died in November, so we want it to be bigger and better every year.
“It will be a non-profit making event.
“The main idea is to celebrate the life of the late Gringo.”
He added:
“There are going to be a lot of different activities that include music, dance, poetry and stand-up comedy.
“It will be a family show.
“It will be a non-profitable event. The main idea is to celebrate the life of the late Gringo.”
Taurai is also determined to chart his own path.
“I will never be the original Gringo.
“When we talk of Gringo, we’re looking at his facial features, his voice, too much stuff like that.
“But people have received me for who I am all these years.
“I am grateful for the support that I have been getting.”
Taurai, who also works as a master of ceremonies at weddings and parties, said the public reception has been exceptional.
“This is something we hope will happen every year.
“For the past few years I have been trying to be the best in this industry through acting, releasing music and everything I have been doing to try and make a name for myself also trying to keep my father’s name alive.
“For the past years, the reception has been exceptional.
“People accept me for who I am and they understand that I will never be the original Gringo.”
