THE Zimbabwe Defence Forces held a Guard of Honour for visiting Angolan Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, General Altino Carlos Jose dos Santos, at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks in Harare yesterday.
General Santos is leading a delegation of five senior officers from the Angolan Armed Forces on a working visit. The Guard of Honour is a military tradition specially designated for welcoming or escorting distinguished visiting Generals or Heads of State.
As part of the honour, Generals receive a 17 Gun Salute, while a Head of State receives a 21-Gun Salute.
General Santos is today expected to pay a courtesy call on his counterpart, the Commander of the ZDF, General Philip Valerio Sibanda, before embarking on a number of tours around the country.
