Gweru braces for Jah Prayzah Johnsias Mutonhori

Music heavyweight Jah Prayzah is set to headline a major autumn show, “The Jah Experience” in Gweru on Saturday.

Following months of relentless summer downpours, the city’s entertainment scene is stirring back to life. The rains have retreated, leaving behind crisp, cool evenings and a renewed appetite for outdoor revelry.

Music fans, long confined indoors by the wet spell, are now eager to embrace the season. Autumn’s cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and landscapes shifting from lush green to golden hues have reignited the desire for live outdoor experiences.
“The persistent rainfall has kept us indoors for too long,” said one fan, Kaeline. “Now, everyone just wants to go out and enjoy.”

There is palpable excitement across the city ahead of the performance by one of the country’s top musicians, recently crowned Outstanding Male Musician of the Year at the National Arts Merit Awards.

Show promoter Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza confirmed that all preparations are in place, urging fans to turn out in their numbers.
“We’ve done everything to prepare for the event. The weather is favourable, and the desire among fans is evident. I want to encourage music lovers to come out in their numbers and enjoy the live performances,” he said.

The supporting line-up adds further weight to the evening, featuring Tamy Moyo alongside local acts Unkut, DJ Crocx, and MC Tiff.

Meanwhile, the city is set to host another major attraction on Zimbabwe’s Independence Day, with promoter Mbazo lining up a quadruple bill of Zimdancehall stars, Freeman, Killer T, Master H, and Enzo Ishall.
