Harare man assaults girlfriend over alleged affair

A HARARE man has appeared in court for allegedly attacking his girlfriend by striking her with an empty bottle, accusing her of cheating on him.

Sheperd Bhunhu (48) of Sunningdale appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube, facing a charge of physical abuse. He was remanded out of custody on US$30 bail.

Prosecuting, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the incident occurred on December 7 at around 5 PM.

“On the day in question, the accused person was with his girlfriend, Primrose Moyo (27), when he started accusing her of having an extra love affair,” said Mr Dzimbanhete.

The court heard that Bhunhu took an empty beer bottle and struck Moyo with it before biting her on the mouth resulting in the complainant sustaining a cut on her lower lip.

A police report was filed, leading to Bhunhu’s arrest.
