TRANSPORT operators, especially haulage trucks, have been restricted from using the Harare-Chirundu highway from Chinhoyi to Harare with effect from Tuesday.
According to the police this is meant to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during the ongoing Zanu PF Conference being held in Chinhoyi.
The restriction also applies to those using the same road from Harare to Chinhoyi and drivers have been urged to proceed via the Chinhoyi-Chegutu Road.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police Mashonaland West Province advises those in the transport industry, particularly haulage trucks, that they are restricted to use the Harare-Chirundu Road from Chinhoyi to Harare starting today, Tuesday October 13, 2026,” he said.
“Drivers are urged to proceed via Chinhoyi-Chegutu Road and those proceeding to Harare will then use the Robert Mugabe Highway linking with Harare-Bulawayo Road at Norton.
“The same applies to those using the road from Harare to Chinhoyi. The inconvenience has been necessitated by the need to facilitate smooth flow of traffic during the ongoing ZANU PF Conference at Chinhoyi University of Technology.
“We appeal to drivers to cooperate with the police and adhere to all road rules and regulations.”
